History as well

The vicinity of the hotel also bears history: the house where lived the young "gaucho" Getulio Vargas, Brazil's future president, a high school student when in his 13 years of age. Later, as president in 1933, Getulio Vargas signed the Presidential Decree that turned Ouro Preto in a National Monument City. In the 1940s, he ordered the repatriation of the remains of the revolutionary inconfidentes that were exiled in former Portuguese colonies in Africa in the eighteenth century, so inaugurating the Inconfidencia Museum, where they rest today in the Pantheon of the Inconfidentes.

How to reach the Hotel

Arriving from Belo Horizonte:

Pass by the Tourist Information Office at the entrance to town; after 500m turn right to the Hotel street. See the Hotel sign on the street corner.

Arriving from Estrada Real-Old Royal Route-Ouro Branco (from Rio, Sao Paulo, Lavras, São João del Rei, Tiradentes, Conselheiro Lafaiete, Congonhas):

(Be careful when using GPS with the Hotel street as the final destination; it may lead you to steep routes).

Upon reaching Saramenha borough, take the direction of the Historical Center and Tiradentes Plaza and out to Belo Horizonte.

After 900m from the Plaza, the street of the Hotel is on your left. See the Hotel sign on the street corner.

Arriving from Mariana (from Ponte Nova, Rio Cascar, Viçosa, Vitoria):

Take the direction of Tiradentes Plaza and out to Belo Horizonte.
